Suggestions for Free Time

After the boat tour and before the gala dinner, you will have some free time to explore Porquerolles. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of your stay on the island.

Important Notice: Porquerolles is part of the Port-Cros National Park, a protected Mediterranean ecosystem. As a visitor, you play a crucial role in preserving its unique biodiversity and natural beauty. Please respect the following guidelines:

  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Do not pick plants, flowers, or other vegetation and do not disturb wildlife.
  • Keep the island clean, no open fires or barbecues, no smoking outside designated areas.
  • Access to certain parts of the island may be regulated due to fire risks.

Beach

Porquerolles boasts several beautiful beaches, most of which are located on the northern side of the island. The closest beach to the hotel is Plage de la Courtage, just a 10-minute walk away. On the southern side, you will find numerous secluded coves, though these are more challenging to access.

?

Hiking

Porquerolles is an excellent destination for hiking, offering the best opportunity to discover the island’s wildest and most pristine areas. Several trails are available for all fitness levels, with gentle slopes and minimal elevation change. Please visit this guide to see example of trails.

Note: Comfortable walking shoes are recommanded. Do not forget to bring water, since there is no water point outside the village.

?

Cycling

Porquerolles is also an ideal destination for cycling. The island is car-free, making it perfect for exploring on two wheels. Several rental shops in the village offer bikes with or without electric assistance, available for rent by the day or by the hour (see the list of rental shops here). An example of bike itinerary is presented here.

Contemporary Art

The Villa Carmignac features an impressive collection of contemporary art. In addition to its indoor exhibition galleries and their aquatic ceiling, you can explore its 15-hectare Mediterranean garden, which hosts numerous outdoor sculptures. The villa is located just 10 minutes from the hotel. The admission fee is 16€.

Note: The Villa Carmignac limits the number of visitors. We recommend to book your ticket in advance.
